The Proposal

The proposal went down on a Tuesday. It was Adrian’s first day back in SA after being home in El Paso for Christmas and we had some big dinner plans to meet up with our good friends, Ashley & James. Reservations were at 8pm by the riverwalk and for some reason, Ashley wanted to wear dresses and heels. Obviously a new dress was needed and Adrian so nicely accompanied me to La Cantera Mall to find one. After many failed dress attempts, I was just about to default to wearing jeans and a shirt (the only dress that I wanted could not be found in my size). Being the wonderful man that he is, Adrian awkwardly took the dress from a mannequin while the store clerk looked on judgmentally nearby.

It’s a http://appalachianmagazine.com/2017/10/05/ohios-forbidden-island/ cheap viagra pill complicated situation for men to combat with. Adrian suggested that we try and arrive early to be able to walk around and look at the Christmas lights – which I had been requesting we go back and see since our first date 3 years prior. As I got ready, slowlyyyyy, I could not figure out why he was in such a rush. Come to find out, there were quite a few people waiting for our arrival, on what we’d come to find out was one of only a few truly “cold” nights all winter in San Antonio.
We arrive downtown and start along the Riverwalk to take in all of the lights. Walking… laughing… shivering… more walking… and then Adrian mentions something about going to the Art Museum the next day. Side bar: this is very strange because we are not an ‘artsy’ couple by any means – but he seems really excited about it, so I agree that it’s a great idea and go along with it. Oddly enough, this museum he’s talking about is right in front of us! All of a sudden, Adrian needs to “tie his shoe” and gets down on one knee. I’m watching very closely (because it’s really cold) and I want to get moving, but apparently ring boxes aren’t as small as you’d think so he was having issues taking it out of his coat pocket. To distract me and get me to turn away, he mumbles something that I interpret as “go check the door for business hours.”
I turn away to check the hours, Adrian successfully gets the ring box out of pocket, and when I turn back around – voila! He said some wonderful things (of which I heard approximately the first 5 words… and made him repeat later that night) and I said yes! As we are now officially engaged (and I’m over the moon), I am again surprised by 3 of my favorite people that have been watching the events unfold: Laura, Ashley, and my little brother! As we head to dinner, I find out that they have all been a part of this plot (and lying to me!) so I am now skeptical if we are even going to dinner. Come to find out we definitely are…and when we walk in, I see even more of my favorite people: James, Chelsea, Desmond, Laura, Ben, Joe, Drew, and my parents 🙂 All of this making it the best night ever! Queue a few of my ugly, but way happy, tears..
